Lire en françaisDRAFT — NOT YET FINAL
This page is a working draft prepared to give an attorney a concrete starting point, not a finished legal document. It accurately describes what GearCaddie does today, but it has not been reviewed by a lawyer and should not be relied on as final until it has.
Current status: real links, commission not yet turned on
GearCaddie links out to real retailer and trade-in sites today — Golf Avenue and 2nd Swing Golf for trade-in quotes, and Amazon or a brand's own site (for example Callaway) when we don't yet have a verified priced offer for a club. None of these links are tagged for commission until GearCaddie is formally accepted into that retailer's affiliate program, which hasn't happened for all of them yet — until then, we may earn nothing from a click even though the link is real and goes to the real retailer. This page will be updated the moment any of them starts actually paying GearCaddie a commission. Where a club page shows a "Compare Prices" section, it will honestly say pricing isn't connected yet rather than show a guessed price or a guessed product page dressed up as a real offer.
Amazon Associates disclosure
As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases. GearCaddie may link to Amazon search results for a club when we don't have a verified retailer offer for it — we never display an Amazon price ourselves, since Amazon's own rules only allow showing a price that's served live through their systems.
How it will work once links go live
When GearCaddie does turn on real retailer links, here's what will be true: clicking a "View retailer" link may take you to a retailer's site through a tracked affiliate link, and if you make a purchase there, GearCaddie may earn a commission. That never changes the price you pay — retailers set their own prices regardless of how you arrived at their site. Every price card that carries an affiliate link will say so in plain language next to the link itself, not just in this policy page.
Editorial independence
GearCaddie's club research — forgiveness, launch, spin, who a club suits, and the rest of the write-up on a club page — is researched and written the same way regardless of whether a retailer link for that club exists or pays a commission. A club isn't rated better because it has an affiliate link, and the absence of a link isn't a signal about the club's quality.
New vs. used equipment
Where GearCaddie shows both new and used pricing for a club, both may eventually carry affiliate links to different retailers. Used-equipment condition and grading are set by the selling retailer, not by GearCaddie.
